Summer Food Resources

Hi everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the first few days of summer break! I wanted to send out an announcement about local food resources for anyone that may need it over our summer break. If there are other resources that you may be in need of, please email me at chelsea.paxton@swcsd.us I work almost all summer long, and will be happy to help find what you may need! The following are four different resources that will take place this summer.

Communities in Schools is partnering with Mid-Ohio Foodbank again for the summer. We have two food sites that you are able to get food from. These meals are already prepared. They include a breakfast and a hot lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Mondays and Wednesdays, you will receive an additional breakfast and a cold lunch. These are for the kids in your household. No paperwork or appointment necessary. This is a drive thru style program and everything is already bagged and packaged for you. The sites, times and days are the following

West Franklin Elementary School - 3501 Briggs Road, Columbus, Ohio 43204

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 12 pm to 2 pm

Westland High School - 146 Galloway Road, Galloway, Ohio 43119

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 3 pm to 5 pm

**These sites are closed on Friday, July 2nd and July 5th. Extra food will be provided on the days before and after those closed dates.

Jordan's Crossing - 342 N Hague Avenue

This agency constantly has different programs and pop ups at their location. They always have food available. The best way to see their updates is through their Facebook page. They are also a drive thru style. They have a big white tent set up to help provide families what they need. They receive a lot of donations and support from community partners, so their events are always different. Contact information is also provided on the Facebook page.

MyProjectUSA - 3275 Sullivant Avenue

This agency hosts a program called, My Family Pantry.

They offer a weekly food drive on Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm.

*I have volunteered at this food drive multiple times, and the amount of food provided is usually a lot.

This is just like a food/produce market, so they will collect some information to put in the Mid-Ohio Foodbank system, and an id will be needed.

NoKidHungry Program

This is a locating resource for families to use when they are in need of food.

If you text FOOD to 877-877, they will provide you local areas that are offering free food.

Gosh that was a lot! I hope this helps and if you need anything else, please do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you all so much and have a great summer!

Thanks,
